Gangdong Public Libraries: Capturing Diverse Lifestyles

Operating six public libraries, the Gangdong Foundation for Arts and Culture enriches the lives of local residents by offering tailored services that reflect the unique characteristics of each library. And the libraries contributes to enhancing the value of the local community’s lifestyle.

  • The first step of Gangdong public library, Seongnae Library Seongnae Library is the first public library in Gangdong-gu, remodeled in 2020. The main building is for children, The new building is a place for adults to read and relax. The specialized theme is picture book.
  • Travel by book, Haegong Library Haegong Library, located in Cheonho Park, is a space of relaxation for local residents and a space for looking for real self by watching the world through books in the green space.
  • A space for new lifestyle in our neighborhood, Gangil Library Gangil Library is located on the 4th and 5th floors of the Gangil Complex Building. It is operated as a library specializing in new lifestyle. We would like to provide an experience to understand about the objects of companion that share our daily lives, such as animals, plants, and robots.
  • The place where I can draw my life like drawing a picture, Amsa Library Amsa Library is a resident living-oriented cultural facility that they can enjoy culture and arts just in front of my house without going far, and provides reading books and relaxation as well as various cultural arts programs.
  • Child growing by book, Parents raising by book, Cheonho Library gathering by book Cheonho Library is a specialized library for communal child care that integrates library and cooperative child care function and shares the ideas that everyone can live well in the harmony of community beyond the role of public library.
  • Healing Book Forest, Dunchon Library It is a healing library where you can relax with books facing Mt. Iljasan. You can heal in the Dunchon library where books become play, a library where you empty, fill and contemplate, and a library where you forget the exhaustion of your daily life.
